New Tables on Both Sides of Tuhaye: Kamas and the Jordanelle Shore Before Opening Day

Deer Valley is aiming to open the 2026-27 season on Dec. 5, conditions permitting, according to KPCW. Park City Mountain is targeting Nov. 20. That leaves roughly six weeks of the quietest stretch of the Wasatch Back calendar. This year the map for those weeks looks different from Tuhaye. Since July, Kamas Main Street has gained a Mexican restaurant and an artisan bread counter. The Jordanelle shore has gained a hotel with four food and drink venues that market themselves to locals as well as to guests.

Tuhaye sits between those two edges, and both now have places that keep regular hours before the lifts start. For a household spending the shoulder season at home, a full week of meals, coffee and errands no longer needs a trip over the hill to Park City.

Kamas Main Street added two counters this year

The newest arrival is Pa'l Corazón, at 30 N. Main St. in Kamas. It opened at the beginning of September, according to The Park Record. Owner Hugo Leonardo runs it with his wife and daughters. He told the paper the menu draws on family recipes and the cooking of Guerrero, Mexico. Its hours suit the off-season: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday and Monday, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Those hours include dinner on a Monday.

Two months earlier, Marvelli Italian Artisan Bread opened a retail shop in Kamas at the start of July, The Park Record reported. The shop opens 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. With only three short days a week, a focaccia run belongs at the end of the week.

The third Kamas stop has been open longer and keeps the longest hours of the three. The +7 Farm Store is a self-serve farm shop off SR-248. When it opened in 2025, The Park Record described shelves stocked by more than 20 local producers, with bread, meat, herbs and prepared foods. The store's website now lists daily hours of 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Its inventory display refreshes every five minutes, so you can check whether the meat case is stocked before you drive over. The name comes from the cattle brand of the founder's grandparents.

The Jordanelle shore got a dining room before it got its lodges

Across the reservoir, Canopy by Hilton Deer Valley opened at 2288 West Deer Hollow Road. It is Hilton's first Canopy hotel in Utah and has 180 rooms facing Deer Valley and the Jordanelle Reservoir. The Park Record dates the opening to late August and calls it the second hotel to open in the Deer Valley East Village base area. Hilton's FAQ puts the official opening in September 2026. Hilton's own announcement says the four food and drink concepts are "designed to welcome hotel guests and the local community from morning through evening."

That matters for the timing. The hotel is steps from the Jordanelle Express Gondola, but its restaurants opened weeks before the gondola carries skiers. As of The Park Record's Oct. 10 story, all four venues were open.

Venue What it is Hours on record
Tavolona Italian trattoria in the lobby, developed with consulting chef Daniele Uditi of Pizzana in Los Angeles Breakfast and lunch 7 a.m.–2 p.m.; dinner 5–10 p.m. Tuesday–Saturday
Fornetto Italian lounge and sports bar beside Tavolona, with pizza, cicchetti and cocktails 5–10 p.m. Tuesday–Saturday
Mountain Provisions All-day café and general store pouring Park City Coffee Roasters Not published
Alpine Attic Rooftop lounge with High West Distillery and Alpine Distilling on the shelf Open since Aug. 21; hours not published

TownLift reported that Alpine Attic opened Aug. 21. Tavolona takes reservations at tavolona.com, and both Italian rooms can be booked by phone at 435-731-9120.

Executive Chef Scott Rackliff runs the kitchens. His résumé includes Daniel Humm's Eleven Madison Park and Daniel Boulud's Dinex Group in New York. Hilton says he buys from regional producers such as PaMaw's Organic Farm and Wasatch Meats whenever possible. On the menu, the Park Record piece singles out chicken parmigiana with a parmesan crust, a bone-in pork chop with apple mostarda, and pepperoni pizza with Calabrian chili honey at Tavolona. Fornetto's list includes polenta fries and a "meatball burger" built on house-made meatballs.

Rackliff told The Park Record what he is after:

"Our goal is to welcome the Park City and surrounding communities into our new home and to create memories together."

He told the same reporter that his best feedback so far has been diners saying a friend sent them.

Between the two: the reservoir stays open after the campgrounds close

What ties the Kamas side to the Jordanelle side is the reservoir itself, and its season is changing too. Jordanelle State Park closes its campgrounds Oct. 31 and reopens them May 1. The park says it does not close its gates, and day use continues year-round. The off-season version of the park is quieter. The Marina Store closes for winter, and docks, fish-cleaning stations and restrooms shut down in stages as temperatures drop.

Two areas stay useful after the campgrounds close:

  • Rock Cliff, on the Provo River end, has a Nature Center, elevated boardwalks over river and wetland, and interpretive trails. The park's brochure says the river corridor supports mule deer, elk and moose.
  • Ross Creek, on SR-248 between Park City and Kamas, offers nonmotorized day access to the Perimeter Trail and the water. It has parking and vault restrooms, and a fee applies.

Check the hours before a late-day walk. The park's live page lists day use from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The park's downloadable brochure gives winter hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and lists closures on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. The park's page is the place to confirm before you go. For anglers, the current conditions page still shows the statewide kokanee possession closure through Nov. 30.

If your route between these stops runs north on SR-32, plan for construction. UDOT's Rockport bridges project page shows one-lane, signal-controlled traffic at the SR-32 work zones near the Weber River. It also schedules a temporary closure of about a month at the SR-302 entrance to Rockport State Park in November, with full completion now expected in early 2027. In April, TownLift reported the work was expected to wrap by Oct. 30, so the UDOT page is the schedule to go by.

A shoulder-season week that stays on this side of the hill

Put the hours side by side and they fit together without much planning. Pa'l Corazón covers the start of the week, including Sunday and Monday dinners. The +7 Farm Store covers any day, early or late. Tavolona's 7 a.m. breakfast and Mountain Provisions' coffee give a reason to take the Jordanelle shore road on a weekday morning. Tavolona and Fornetto both serve dinner Tuesday through Saturday. Marvelli's Thursday-through-Saturday counter in Kamas fits the end of the week, ahead of a weekend walk on the Rock Cliff boardwalks.

Deer Valley's target opening day for the 2026-27 season, conditions permitting, is Dec. 5.

The new businesses opening around Tuhaye are part of the neighborhood too, and Tricia Cohen follows the Kamas side and the Jordanelle shore as closely as the club itself. If you would like a grounded read on how this year's openings are changing life around Tuhaye, Schedule a Private Consultation.
